3 Heart Health System
Shota-Kun begins each session with three hearts representing his remaining chances before the game ends. Losing a heart happens when a ghost catches him or when he fails to escape a dangerous situation in time. Hearts can be restored at specific Heart Refiller locations
Stamina and Water System
Running through the school corridors depletes Shota-Kun's stamina bar. When stamina runs low he slows significantly making escape from pursuing ghosts much harder. Water bottles placed throughout the school map restore stamina when consumed.
Flashlight and Battery
The flashlight is Shota-Kun's primary tool for navigating the school's dark interiors but it runs on limited battery that depletes with use. Batteries are found throughout each level and must be picked up when available to ensure the flashlight does not die at a critical moment
Talisman System
The Talisman provides Shota-Kun with a specialized quick escape mechanism in situations where running or hiding would not create enough distance from a pursuing ghost. Different talismans have different effects and the V11.0 addition of the Jiangshi talisman provides a targeted escape tool specifically effective against the Jiangshi ghost.
Game Map
The school map covers hallways, classrooms, specialized rooms, and in expanded versions outdoor areas including courtyard and rooftop sections. Each area has its own lighting conditions, hiding spots, and potential ghost encounter zones.
Hiding Spots System
Four main categories of hiding spots allow Shota-Kun to disappear from ghost detection range when direct escape is not possible. Dark corners reduce visibility. Furniture and walls break the ghost's line of sight. Closets, barrels, boxes, and even toilets allow complete concealment when Shota-Kun steps inside them.
Puzzle and Exploration
Each level contains locked doors that require specific keys, environmental clues that point toward objectives, and hidden items that are not immediately visible. Notes left in unexpected locations provide both lore about the school's history and practical hints about what each level requires to progress.
